I got an IUD a while ago and people keep asking how it’s working for me. Instead of telling each person one by one, I decided to make this comic to share with the world. Hope it helps!

Seriously considering it! Now that I have insurance and I still don’t babies for a while, or ever, it’s a possibility!

Obviously YMMV, but it pisses me off when people talk about how things don’t really hurt at all or for very long. I literally want to die when I get a simple pelvic exam, because it hurts so badly, and my two friends who have IUDs had awful insertion experiences. One vomited because it hurt so bad, and the other passed out. I was with them (as a sort of…repro health doula), so I know this is true. I think it’s great that IUDs are an option, but I also think it’s important to know that the pain can be way worse than they say. Or it could be just like this. But I feel so marginalized when people tell me gynecological procedures don’t hurt when I usually cry during a pap smear and ask them to stop. So. FYI.

For sure! Pain is different for everyone. I’m still doing research.
